The Bengali Style Fried Chicken Recipe
Fried Chicken Wings – the Bengali Style! Why a Bengali recipe because I used a lot of Indian spices for flavoring these chicken wings. I also used some Chinese ingredients.
Last week don’t know what got into my head, I suddenly started getting those itchy feelings. This usually happens when I start getting those imaginative ideas running in my head. In simple words, I just wanted to try out a new recipe. I wanted to be inventive and make my own recipe.
So Friday, I went to the supermarket and got myself some ingredients. I yet had no idea what I was going to prepare. I bought some chicken wings and some vegetables. We have always spices at home as we eat a lot of Bengali and Indian food at home.
I wanted to give my wife Amina a bit of relief from her daily cooking chores so this was going to be a surprise dinner for the family.
My two daughters get excited when they learn that daddy is going to cook. They know me very well now. I usually don’t hang around the kitchen unless I was planning to try out a new recipe and this excites them.
Saturday, I woke up in the morning and declared that I was going to prepare dinner today. Wow!! To my surprise everybody seemed very happy about it.
I should admit that the new recipe came out to be really great. In fact with the same ingredients, we finally prepared 3 new recipes. Sometimes it feels great to be innovative in cooking.
Since I am from Bangladesh, I named my new recipes as Bengali recipes.

I have used a lot of spices in preparing the Bengali Fried Chicken Wings recipe. There is a mixture of Indian spices and Chinese spices. When you look at the ingredients it may seem very difficult but it is a very easy recipe.
The only time you would spend is preparing the marinate for the chicken wings. After that all you would have to do is get it in the oven.
Bengali Fried Chicken Wings
8 Servings - Preparation: 20 min - Marinate: 30 min - Cooking: 45 min
Ingredients
2kg chicken wings (about 24pcs)
250 grams natural yoghurt
3 inch fresh ginger
2tb sp of honey
1 tb sp Madras Curry
2 tb sp Paprika
½ tsp Nutmeg
1 tb sp Soya Sauce
¼ tsp Azwain Seeds
¼ tsp Cardamone powder
Salt
tb sp => table spoon
tsp => tea spoon
Directions:
Marinate - 30mn :
- Peel the ginger skin and grate it finely
- With a fork or knife, poke the chicken wings. This will allow the marinated sauce to penetrate the chicken wings
- Mix thoroughly all the ingredients in a large bowl. Make sure that the bowl is large enough to cover all the chicken wings
- Add the chicken wings to the bowl and let it marinate for 30mn. Make sure to stir it from time to time so that all the wings get marinated
Oven - 45mn at 180°C:
- Pre-heat the oven. Place the marinated chicken wings over the grill and bake them until golden brown and crispy
You can eat these crispy chicken wings as a starter with ketchup or mayonaise. You can also serve them as a main course with some vegetables. You can check out my Bengali Fried Vegetable Recipe which we served for this recipe.
Bon Appétit!!
