Easy Italian Snacks With Vegetables

Bringing you these easy Italian snacks from Italy to your home kitchen. These are healthy snacks that you can prepare at home. They are one of the easy appetizer ideas that can be prepared fast if you have surprise visits at home and have nothing ready. Give them a try, you will love them.

Preparation time : 20 minutes     Baking time: 20 minutes    Makes around 6 snacks


Ingredients:

1 tablespoon oil
2 tablespoon onion
2 tablespoon chopped capsicum
2 tablespoons seedless chopped tomato
Salt to taste
¼ tsp mixed herbs
½ teaspoon oregano
½ chilli flakes (optional) or black pepper
1 teaspoon chilli sauce
1 tablespoon ketch up
1 tablespoon grated cheese
3 to 4 tablespoon crushed corn flakes
Oil for deep fry

For the dough:

1 cup refined flour
Salt to taste
1 teaspoon butter
Water as required.

Dough preparation:

To make the dough we need 1 cup of refined flour, a pinch of salt, a tea spoon of oil, a pinch of baking powder, water as much required. This dough will be soft. Leave it for 30 minutes in a warm place and cover it with a cloth. Meanwhile you will prepare the stuffing.

Stuffing Preparation:

For making the stuffing heat 1 tablespoon oil in a pan. Then add the chopped capsicum, onion and tomatoes. Stir fry them a little bit. After that add salt as required, chilli flakes or black pepper, oregano, mixed herbs, red chilli sauce and ketchup and mix well. Pour the stuffing into a bowl and let it cool. After the stuffing cools down, add cheese and crushed corn flakes to it and mix well.

Making the Italian snack:

Then make small balls from the dough roll out like a small flatbread. Place the stuffing in the middle of the flatbread. Wet the edges of the flat bread with water into your finger. Seal them properly and fold it to make a punch. One thing you should keep in mind is not to put too much stuffing otherwise it will come out.
When the stuffing’s are ready you can either deep fry them in hot oil until they become golden brown or bake them in the oven. fry them in hot oil till it becomes golden brown.

Baking:

Preheat the oven at 170°C (around 350°F). Beat 1 egg and then brush it over your Italian snacks. Next bake it in the oven for 20 to 30 minutes. When the snacks turn golden brown you can remove them from the oven.

Serving:

Place your snacks in a serving plate. To decorate them add a drop of ketchup on top of each of the snacks and garnish them with a little bit of grated cheese. You can serve them as a snack for tea time. It can be served in the tiffin box for the children.
